Clarification, Declaration, Announcement!
I got a mail from someone who went and placed an order for my services on Indiatimes.com – i.e., the Times of India group’s Astro portal! And it is almost 9 months I walked away from Indiatimes.com because they cheat the customers in the name of astrology. Hence I have an important announcement to make here –

Do corporate think Astrologers are dumb?
Some take astrology too seriously and some consider it as a mere entertainment. Both are perfectly fine. This wonderful divine art opens the way you want it to. If you are serious – you will get some good predictions. And if you are not serious – it will make you happy for the day with all the adjectives added. Today serious astrology is a bit expensive, and cheap astrology is just a SMS away. Many ‘top’ telecom companies are or have already got into providing Sun sign predictions to their clients. And they are majorly getting into providing customized predictions to their customers too. In this particular blog I am putting up a few mail exchanges, between someone and me who is getting into it very seriously.
This blog is unedited hence excuse the grammatical errors. And also I am hiding the other person’s name for courtesy sake.
HIS FIRST MAIL
We are starting a new service focussed on Mobile delivery.
The options that we are offering will be:
1. Live Video Chat with astrologers on Mobiles Here the Customers can see the Astrologer on their mobile and can ask their questions.
Here you should give us a time when you can be online and we will set up the software in your office/Home/wherever you are. All you need to be connected with our system is that you should have a PC or Lap top with a normal intrernet connection.
We will promote that Astrologer Mr____ is online in between XXX to XXX time and the customers can log in and chat with you live. The customers will be able to see your image as
this is Video chat.
2. Daily General Predictions
Here we will need the daily predictions on all Sun Signs ideally we need the predictions for the entire day split into three parts one for morning then for afternoon and finally for evening.
We will need you to create the predictions and give the same on all star signs. The predictions should be short and precise. Please let me know if you can work with us on the above. This is a good long term prospect and at the same time will give you quite a big publicity as well.

Thanks your quick attention. I would like to elaborate hereunder.:
1. We are a technical software company and are connected with all major telecom operators in India. As a result we will be starting the service on Tata, BSNL, MTNL immediately and thereafter will expand to the other operators like Reliance etc. etc. In short the service will be available on all Telecom Networks in India
2. The price of sessions we plan to keep will be cheap around Rs. 50 for a session of 15 minutes. And a monthly prediction of each star sign will cost the customers Rs. 30 per month.
We are working on the assumptions of high volumes at low prices. Mass sellings.
3. You can expect vast numbers in Lakhs because the service will be co-promoted by the Telecom Operators themselves.
4. From the price at which we sell our services we expect to get a pay out from the Telecom Company in between 20 to 30% depending upon different Operators - The payout from
each Operator will be communicated to you well in advance.
5. We suggest that we share the revenue by giving you 33.33% of our net realizations on all your content sessions.
6. In addition to the Revenue which will be earned you can also expect a big Publicity push.
7. We expect that on each Telecom operator we should have in between 100,000 to 200,000 customers every month.

The potential of our service is as under.:
1. TELECOM OPERATOR 1, about 50,000 Customers
Rate of Session of 15 minutes Rs. 50
Nett Rate to the Company after Payout from Operator : Rs. 12.50 per session
Royalty to Astrologer 33.33% of Rs. 12.50 = Rs. 4.16
Total Business Rs. 4.16 x 50,000 = Rs. 2 Lakhs
Plus you benefit by way of publicity as 15-minute session is not enough for any person to get everything so prospects might wish to seek a personal meeting/session with you.

Thanks for your mathematical explanation. I really thought over it, and without any rush did a mathematical calculation.
Let us consider a hypothetical situation
“Say all the 50,000 customers opted for this 15 mns live chat with me”
So if I work for a full 8 hours in a day continuously, I will be able to do 4 readings in one hour, and 32 readings in a day.
So to complete 50,000 reading it will take me 1562 days (50,000 divided by 32), which is 4.2 years. (Almost 5 years)
So the 2 lakhs you are promising me will take 5 years for me. So per year I will be making 40,000, which is Rs 3333 per month – not to forget 8 hours of continuous effort from my end.
Sorry if I am crossing my limits, but then my electricity bill per month is 3000 rupees.

I never got any 4th mail from him!
I paid Rs 4500 for the tattoo I have on my right hand. I didn’t mind paying that much because I read something interesting in that studio which said –
“A good tattoo isn’t cheap and a cheap tattoo isn’t good.” Well that holds true for astrology too!
