Auroville Horrible!

My social life has become zero. And after becoming an astrologer, I don’t have any friends either. All my friends have become my clients with time. And to be honest I love it that way. A life of a loner is what I have always dreamt of, and by God’s grace it has been blessed. Of course I have a wife, two beautiful daughters, and a supporting family, but then still – being alone gives me the most pleasure - god knows for what reason!

Monotony struck me a couple of months back, and I thought I should start traveling alone to places that interests me. I traveled to Thiruvannamalai last month, and this time I traveled to Auroville, Pondicherry and stayed there for 4 days.

Pondicherry has always been a depressing place for me. The truth is there is nothing in Pondicherry – not even a beach that has a shore. May be it is good for booze lovers, but then the long tiring drive for a couple of beers lesser by 10 bucks isn’t worth the effort.

I have heard and read few interesting facts about the commune that exists in Auroville. And my sister’s recent experience in Auroville made me decide that I should spend some days in Auroville. And I should say it wasn’t worth it.

I sometimes wonder why people get so constipated in the process of spiritual growth. They talk, walk, think, preach loving kindness, and when approached behave as if they have a pin poked in their butts!

Everyone I interacted at Auroville had a common streak. They talk as if they are not bothered, they behave as if they are superior souls, and they unanimously make you feel that you are not welcome! With whatever kindness I have gathered living in a materialistic world I found a room, and also a TVS 50 moped to ride inside the Auroville.

The roads are muddy, they don’t have a decent place to dine, there is no one to tell you what is happening around, and you can never guess why and where are people plying so fast on their bikes! Probably I was the only guy riding the moped at a decent speed, all else were moving as if there was no tomorrow.

I slept for 4 days. And if I had extended the stay by one day I am sure I would be pushing the grass by now – out of mere boredom to be precise.

I wouldn’t say it was a complete waste trip – at least I cannot afford to say that after the money being spent. I realized something very important during the 4-day stay. I realized that - I am not a spiritual person but I am more of a religious person. So in future will choose place accordingly.

My take on legalizing homosexuality!

What we think or do is right or wrong depending upon what the judiciary says or changes with time to time. Bringing 5 kgs of gold into India was termed smuggling prior to 1992 and today it isn’t smuggling anymore. Any unnatural sexual activity was considered crime so far, and in days to come people might have debate about what ‘unnatural’ actually means. If the judiciary had to peep into people’s bedrooms, I am sure none will go scot-free. I am sure none understands the difference between natural and unnatural. What does the legal book say about oral sex – is it natural or unnatural? Or about anal sex - is it natural or unnatural? Or about 69-position - is it natural or unnatural?

Or is it so that the positions mentioned in Kama Sutra are the only natural ones? If that is true - then sex with horse, sex with eunuchs, sex with prostitutes, sex with multiple partners, sex with neighbour’s wife, group sex, and sex toys should be legalized in India. We cannot say them unnatural anymore in the goodness of Indian people.

One good thing about legalizing homosexuality is that people need not consider it as a crime, and that people need not be violent against homosexuals. Let them also have good sex and exist in peace. But then legalizing the same doesn’t mean it is justified or called natural sex. “Homosexuality is unnatural and is a psychological disorder, which can be cured through proper treatment.“

Sex is majorly done for 2 important reasons – reproduction and pleasure. They aren’t 2 different concepts. They are interlinked. Pleasure is hidden in sex, because the divine or God or the nature wants people to have more sex and reproduce more. Now in homosexuality the chances of reproduction get nullified and only pleasure remains – which is unnatural in the divine plan.

There is another confusion, which lingers in people’s mind. Most people confuse between sex with same sex and attraction towards same sex as one and the same. They are not. Sex with same sex can happen under few desperate circumstances – like living in hostels, boarding schools, military, jails - which doesn’t entitle you to be a gay! I know few intimate friends who had sex in hostels, when they never had girl friends, and today they are married to women, and also have extra marital affairs with women.

Sexual attraction towards same sex is what is unnatural and it has few spiritual problems too. Homosexuals cannot grow spiritually. They have an extra round to complete in the spiritual process. Today they get attracted to same sex, then they will have go get attracted to the opposite sex, and only then there is any possibility of going beyond!

Legalizing homosexuality is a welcome decision – no doubt. But I think courts should legalize ‘swinging’ lifestyle before that – which is more prominent these days!

The Burger King Ad controversy!

“Lalit K Jha Washington - A US-based Hindu advocacy group has asked American fast food chain Burger King to immediately remove an advertisement campaign featuring goddess Lakshmi, which it says is "offensive" to the people of the faith. Washington-based Hindu American Foundation said Burger King is running a print advertisement in Spain that depicts an image of the goddess seated atop a meat sandwich and other foodstuffs with the catch phrase, "A snack that''s sacred," in Spanish.” That is the latest controversial ad news.

The question is why are Indians so sensitive abroad? And why are Indians so hell bent to prove their holier-than-though attitudes about Hinduism living in a foreign nation? Why don’t they just leave back all the luxuries available in those countries and come to rot in India with no water, no electricity and no broadband?

This particular ad made complete sense to me. Goddess Lakshmi sitting on a burger and the statement says – ‘A snack that’s scared.’ At least the company has called our Goddess Lakshmi sacred in the process. Now go to any temple in India, and notice the economy and corruption that depends on it. The priests will exploit you to the maximum, there are enough touts around, and the maximum thefts happen in a temple!

And what is this nonsensical Brahminical attitude about meat eating and Hinduism? Hindus were always meat eaters and Brahminism came much later than Hinduism. Then why press the panic button when Hindu Gods are depicted with meats? In India we still have temples where animals are offered to God, and fish are given out as prasads! And enlightened saints like – Jesus, Rama Krishna Paramahansa and Dalai Lama were/are non-vegetarians.

Go to any butchery run by Hindus in India – you will find photos of Lord Narayana or photo of Goddess Lakshmi hung on the wall. And go to any liquor shop in India and you still will find photos of Lord Narayana or Goddess Lakshmi – and they surely will be selling the liquor at more than MRP prices. What should we fight against now – the Hindu photos or the system of cheating the people?

Enter any government office in India you undoubtedly will find a photo of Mahatma Gandhi who is considered to be the father of the nation, and who was someone who always stuck to truth, honesty and ahimsa - now show me a single government office in India that is non-corrupt and sticks to truth and honesty!

I think we need to clean our butts first, before pointing our fingers at the West!

Union Budget - what difference does it make to me?

When young budgets didn’t matter to me and today they don’t make any difference to me. People are glued to TV when budgets are announced, it is big news for the media, the stock market rises sometimes and falls sometimes, and the budgets news become talk of the town for a couple of days. But then what difference does it make to the ‘aam aadmi’? Or on the first place who is that ‘aam aadmi’? And does ‘aam aadmi’ exists for real?

All governments so far in India have come to power with one common agenda – eradicate poverty or as they say ‘gareebi hatao’ in Hindi. But then has any of the government been successful in eradicating poverty since 1947? I think the percentage of people under poverty line has always remained the same. India as always has been rich people living poor country. So why does this huge drama of budgets for ‘aam aadmi’ happen on the first place?

I was in Kodaikanal a couple of months ago. The government had allotted 10 crores for cleaning the boating lake there. They religiously fixed the machines to clean it up few years back, and it ended there. The government changed, the cleaning never happened, the machine is still rotting there, and 10 crores is already siphoned off! May be some honest politician clad in Khadhi has used that fund to educate his children in the US.

End of the day with any new budget - funds are allocated for various pro-poor projects, which eventually never gets manifested. And in the process - right from the top to the bottom – politician and bureaucrat use up the money for their personal gains. And what happens to the project - they just remain a dream till the next budget is announced. Whose money was that anyway? It was yours and mine!

LCD TV prices reduced it seems. Does that make any difference to India or me? I was never waiting for the prices to go down to buy one. And also was the ‘aam aadmi’ waiting desperately to buy a LCD TV?! May be…..may be…there was some mouth watering deal between the FM and the LCD manufacturers!

I am not anti-Congress. In fact I am against all those governments, which come to power using the poor exploiting the middle class to help the rich.

How long are we going to live in these lies? Another 500 years? How long are we going to remain helpless in the name of democraZy? They are few questions we need to ponder, and sit idle as we always did.

Poverty isn’t India’s problem as on date – in fact it is corruption. Eradicate corruption from the lowest levels and India will develop faster than we think. And let us support only that government, which promises an anti-corruption society! I am sure no government will take such a big risk.

May God bless all politicians with all the luxuries in their lives.
