I have many dreams….part 1
“What is your dream?” Asked one of my clients and a series of dreams rushed to my minds, which were nurtured in me for many years now. I was instantly reminded of Martin Luther King Jr. who had a dream of equal rights for both black and white. But his dreams were never achieved completely in his lifetime. It gave me an interesting insight - which convinced me that the dreams you posses need not be manifested by the dreamer himself. They can in fact become an acceptable and achievable concept for generations to come because individual life is too short to dream big and also to have the time, money and power to make it happen.
Dream 1 – Temple that brings Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva together
Human beings by birth are ‘ungrateful.’ They have this nasty habit of ignoring what they have been blessed with and to complain about that, which isn’t provided yet. And it shows. In a country that believes in Trinity – Lord Brahma - the life ‘G’iver, Lord Narayana – the life ‘O’bserver, and Lord Shiva – the life ‘D’estroyer - we have innumerable temples for Lord Narayana and Lord Shiva, but then have only two temples for Lord Brahma.
The reason is simple – we don’t want to thank Lord Brahma for having given us this beautiful life to live. We just want to complain about success, money and prosperity to Lord Narayana, and we want to butter Lord Shiva from doing permanent damage to us and close ones.
Well my dream is to construct a huge temple with three ‘Gopurams’, each dedicated to the one of the Trinity. The first ‘gopuram’ (entrance) will be of Lord Brahma, where in a worshipper thanks him for the life provided. The second ‘gopuram’ will be of Lord Narayana, where the worshipper asks for general prosperity and well being, and the third ‘gopuram’ (exit) will be of Lord Shiva, where you ask Him to prepare yourself for the inevitable death.
Dream 2 – An Indian School – ‘Atmosphere’
I am not against education I am against the prevailing system of education in India. A system that is corrupt in the name of donation, a system that dumps you with all those unnecessary shit which you might never use in life, a system that gauges children’s originality, ability and potential just by means of grades, a system that kills creativity at a tender age, and a system that boasts about 100 per cent results producing slaves and mediocres.
Atmosphere will be a system of education that will first find the purpose of the child’s existence. It will find a child’s natural skill, natural talent and natural interest, and work and concentrate only on those areas where there is a possibility of the child to excel. The rule is simple – a natural artist need not break his head to answer – when a particular train, moving at 60 kms/hour, will overtake a train moving at 50 kms/hour, which left 1 hour earlier. And a natural mathematician or logician need not know the difference between water colour painting and oil on canvas.
Atmosphere will also bring all those Indian systems under one roof – where in you can do a crash course in pottery, a crash course in astrology, a crash course in ayurveda, a crash course in meditation, daily discourses on Indian epics, religious debates, lessons on history, historical debates et al.
The children studying at Atmosphere will never compete or write their 10th or 12.th And it will be a school, which will be ‘Thankfully not recognized by the Government of India’.
Dream 3 - A weekend meditation resort
It will be a meditation resort that is completely cut off from the outside world – a primitive set up void of all the latest technology – right from electricity to mobile phones to television and internet. A resort – that will take you back to the days of our innocent existence. You can come with your family on weekends or holidays and just meditate and be silent.
It will be set up where you will be treated as equals in the eyes of God – hence you will be asked to enter wearing a robe that will be provided at the entrance, and you have to remove and deposit all that expensive stuff you have been proud to own – right from your footwear to goggles to diamond ear rings. You will have no reason to show off your prosperity and you will never know how prosperous the other family is.
Dreams to follow…..
Dream 4 - A non-religious commune
Dream 5 - Free food camps for children
