I am out of ‘Indiatimes.com’s Astrology Website!
Skanda Subramanian, impressed with my non-sensical musings on my blog site, went ahead to place an order for astrological consultation with me on Indiatimes.com. He came to know about me through my blog site hence it could have made more sense if he had consulted me directly instead of going through Indiatimes.com. But as everything has a divine reason, his placing an order on Indiatimes.com (aka astrospeak.com) also had a divine reason. A ‘MAJOR’ truth was about to be revealed in the process.
Skanda started chatting with me on Yahoo messenger just as an acquaintance and we became good friends in a couple of days. After 4-5 days of chat, he told me that he liked my blogs and hence placed an order for one of my services on Indiatimes. All this time he thought it was delicate to ask me about the pending order. And I had the slightest idea that he has placed an order for a reading on Indiatimes. The moment I came to know about the order, I immediately logged into the order interface and found nothing in it. I asked him, when did he place an order, and he said, should be 4 to 5 days. And in my interface there were no pending orders. I confirmed with him – did he choose me as an astrologer, and he sent me the order confirmation mail he got from Indiatimes.
In fact he had placed an order for Ask 1 Question + Life predictions by G. Kennedi Rs 1500. And I don’t provide this service on any of the websites.
I asked him to send a mail to Indiatimes to ask about the status of the order. And to my shock, Skanda received an astrological reading the next day in his mailbox. There was no mention of any astrologer in the reading, and the reading was computer generated. Skanda is a male, and the report said – your husband will be so and so….(I will have to eat my words if the computer thought Skanda was a gay).
I never got the order in my order interface, I never did that particular service, the client placed an order specifically for me and paid 1500, and the client got the computer generated reading.
If Skanda had not been in touch with me on Yahoo messenger, he would have never known that the reading wasn’t done by me, and at the same time I would have never known that a person called Skanda placed an order for my service!
There were too many mails sent to and fro, and Indiatimes forwarded the order to me after Skanda warned them of slapping a legal notice. Indiatimes escaped saying there was a technical error, and the order went to some other astrologer. I don’t want to name the astrologer – but whoever it is – it isn’t wise to send computer-generated predictions to your clients, who pay you through their nose.
Well this was the point of misunderstanding between Indiatimes and me. And now I have got a couple of orders from Indiatimes, which I don’t normally do. I don’t get into life predictions – because if I get into typing that – it will at least take 4-5 hours for me. And I am totally against sending computer-generated predictions. Secondly I don’t honestly think that there was any technical error as far as Skanda’s order is concerned. May be this was the first time they got caught – thanks to Skanda.
It is easy – recruit an inhouse guy, use other astrologer’s name, generate computer predictions, and send them to the clients. Who on earth will ever know? Well this is just an assumption and a strong possibility, which cannot be ruled out.
My teacher would say – when you have money, fame, luxury, and power on one side, and dharma (righteousness) on the other side - always chose Dharma! And I thought I would stick to his words.
I still can keep my mouth shut, do the orders as they send to me, and bask in the money and success that a brand like Indiatimes can bring. But then – I can’t and I have decided to walk out.
I haven’t sent any mails to Indiatimes yet to remove me from their panel. I thought I would post this blog first, and then send a mail – so that I don’t decide against myself.

If you are full of shit, then please keep your mouth shut!
The last couple of weeks have been interesting. Interesting because I have been meeting funny characters. And just today handled 2 such cases. One talked to me as if I am a baniya, and second talked to me as if I am an asshole.
In India every 3rd person thinks he knows astrology. You just buy a book at the railway station, read a couple of books by BV Raman or Linda Goodman, and call yourself an amateur astrologer. The rule is simple – if you think you know astrology then find your own answers. If not keep your mouth shut when dealing with professional astrologers.
I know it is very easy for me. Just take the money, do a reading, discuss few astrological rules, give some advice, give some remedial measure, and leave it there. There is no problem - the money is already made in the process. But my conscience doesn’t allow that. When I do a reading, I really want to help my client so much so that it should change their lives forever.
He was very kind over the phone, hence gave him an appointment immediately. The moment he asked me – what are the geographical co-ordinates of his birthplace, I knew he has read many books on astrology, and that he was already full of shit. When you go to the doctor, you just say what is your problem. You don’t ask him to use the stethoscope to check you or you don’t ask him whether a blood check up is necessary. The doc knows it better than you. So when you meet a good astrologer – leave it to him, he knows the best. There is no need to show off about the astrological rules you know. I don’t belong to the peaceful lot. I gave the client – left, right and center and made sure that he should think twice before consulting me again!
If you have made huge losses by wearing an expensive gem suggested by other astrologers, and if you spent a fortune by spending money on pujas to get rid of all that destiny wanted to provide you – what can I do? The simple question is – did I ask you to wear gems? Did I ask you to spend a fortune on pujas? If other astrologers have made money out of you, I cannot help it. When you come to me – come with an open mind. Of course I charge, but then if you find my predictions going wrong – you can always mail me and get a full refund. That is the best I can do. Though I know how to cheat - the last thing on earth for me will be to cheat you.
And just today I met someone who could not answer my question properly – may be he had an attitude problem. In the process of confirming the past and I asked him few simple questions – and he was so full of bookish crap that he could not answer them correctly in plain yes or no.
My first question was
– did you change your house, got married and also changed your job between 2000 and 2002. (Can I be more specific?)
His answer
– yes, and many more things happened. In fact that has been happening for the last 10 years. (did I ask him that?)
My 2nd question – did your father had any health problems between 2002 and 2004
His answer – NO
His answer – Sorry, YES
My 3rd question – was there increase in medical expenses between 2004 and 2007 for you?
His answer – apart from for father’s health, nothing else
Again my question was simple – was there increase in medical expenses between 2004 and 2007
His answer – I answered that query.
Again my question – was there increase in medical expenses between 2004 and 2007?
His answer – No
Again I repeated the question - was there increase in medical expenses between 2004 and 2007, yes or no?
His answer – yes, but for father’s health nothing much. (a simple example of how people get uncomfortable if someone is talking about your past looking at your chart)
My Question - so you know astrology? Have read a lot of books on astrology?
His answer – yes, but could not figure out why Jupiter dasha is bad for me.
I said, “I am not interested to do a reading for you,” and refunded his money.
The first thing any good astrologer would do is to judge the ‘attitude’ of the client. When an astrologer meets someone, he can analyze him 75 per cent by just looking at him, and rest 25 per cent can be judged by talking to him for 5 minutes. Only after that the prediction is done. So the next time you meet an astrologer don’t think he is a chooth sitting there to whom you can show off your bookish knowledge or educational qualification or your money power. He is the only person under the sky who will put all that you have under his butt and then ask you – what is your problem?
Never treat an astrologer as a businessman and never think astrology is a commodity where you can just pay and walk off with the product. Any astrologer has the right and freedom to put you down by NOT doing a reading for you.
God Bless All

My difficult times – part 6 - last!
I have known about two important philosophies of life – the first one which says - when one door closes, another opens, and the second which says – nothing, I mean NOTHING in this world happen without a reason. I don’t know about others, but these universal truths worked perfectly in my case. I came to know about astroyogi.com, while dealing with them for Sify. After my Sify episode, I asked people at astroyogi, if they would mind taking me as one of the panel astrologers. They gave me a chart to analyze the past, present and future, and they were kind of impressed by my reading. They took me on their panel immediately, and after that there was no looking back. I surely am grateful to them for helping me when I needed them the most.
By God’s grace I was taken as panel astrologer on most of India’s leading websites – except Sify – for obvious reasons. And trust that people had on me increased with time.
So to sum up – the years 2004 and 2005 – were difficult financially, the year 2006 was average, and the years 2007 and 2008 – have been excellent.
Though I am a firm believer of God, I never believed in prayers. I am not for asking God for any material success. I think I still haven’t extended enough gratitude to Him for whatever he has already provided. In fact whatever happens - happens for the right. And it is our myopic vision that finds it difficult to interpret the ongoing. If at all I have asked anything, then it was – perseverance!
Not by reading, but by living I experienced many things in life, which might be useful for people who go through similar situations in life.
*If you think you have the necessary skill set, and that you can do something on your own. Never ask for advice - especially never ask government employees, and people who haven’t done it before. They will always say a big NO
*It is always now or never. Don’t think you will take the plunge after life gets settled. It is just an illusion that we create – in fact life never gets settled.
*Always listen to your inner voice, and always trust your instinct. You will succeed if it was right, and you would have learnt a BIG lesson, if it were wrong.
*Always trust God, and never trust women
*Material life and spiritual life – are two different tracks altogether – they will never meet. In materialistic life – be materialistic.
*Three important things you would need to be successful in both personal and professional life – a good erection, money and power.
*Don’t talk about simplicity until and unless you have bought a Ferrari. None will listen to you.
*Money attracts money.
*Think big talk less.
*Good time and bad time are similar – they never exist forever.
*What goes up comes down, and what comes down goes up – that is rule of life.
*Don’t forget God in difficult times, and don’t forget people in good times.
*Never chase money, let money chase you.
*Surrender totally.
I am well aware that by writing this set of difficult times I haven’t crossed all the difficult times I am destined to face. I am sure there are many more to come, but then I know that I am well equipped to face them all with the help of divine grace.
God Bless All!

My difficult times – part 5 – last but one!
I was too optimistic I guess. Rather than asking for help, I wanted others to ask me whether I need some help or not. Well in this scenario too out of all the people I knew the only person who asked me if I need any financial help was my American chat friend, whom I met in the year 2000 through AOL. Her husband was having some problems on work front that time, but still she told me, “if you need any help let me know, will send you some money.” I immediately asked her, “but then you won’t be having much because of your husband’s career problems.” And she said, “I will share what I have!” Her words were like a rejuvenating tonic to me, and I was double assured that I have taken the right decision.
I started considering my chat friend as my KCN (potassium cyanide) – my last resort. If nothing works out may be I will take her help. And thankfully I never had an opportunity to use my KCN. But I always will remain grateful for her support and her kind words.
I was running from pole to pole. And was already rotating money- borrowing from friend, and giving it to other in the promised time frame. While borrowing someone lent me money on interest, someone lent me with a deadline, and there were few great friends who helped me in style. One of my friends came home to hand over the money, and said take your time, no hurry. And there were two others, who just asked my account number, made the transfer in 5 mns, and asked me to confirm the receipt.
After struggles for few months with man generated limited resource called money, my revenue started to increase, and by God’s grace I was slowly coming out of the financial crisis. And once I saved enough, I buzzed my friends for their account numbers so that I can return the money, and they refused to give. They plainly said, don’t bother. On that particular day the amount of money, which I had borrowed had lost its value completely. And it was the same money which was immensely valuable for me just a couple of months. That was when I realized that both justice and money should always come at the right or it loses its value.
As I was slowly doing well on the financial front, and was able to manage my life better, God sent Rashmi Bansal. She is a journalist, and she wanted to interview me for an article on bloggers who are making money for Business World magazine. The article was well received, and it gave a boost to my credibility factor.

My difficult times – part 4!
We have had our differences. I left home once, and my wife left home once on a different day. She left home and stayed at Pondicherry ashram, and I left home wanting to stay at Shiv Shankar Baba’s ashram for a day or two. On my 1-hour ride to the ashram, many things crossed my mind, and it was one of the most enlightening ride I have ever had in my life.
As I reached the Kelambakkam (Chennai) ashram the security guy stopped me at the gate. He asked me simple questions, “what is your name? And where are you from?” The first question was simple to be answered. But then the 2nd question came as a jolt to me. I was used to telling – I am Kennedi from Express, I am Kennedi from Sify, and this time I could not answer the 2nd part of the question. And I said, “I am Kennedi from Chennai!” He bluntly said, Baba gives darshan only on weekends, so you can come on Saturday or Sunday. I turned back, recollecting the incident when I was given a royal treatment at the same ashram when I had conducted an online chat with Baba for Sify. I realized that I need to create a brand of myself, which will remain the same forever, and that which will leave a permanent mark in the world even after I die.
I spent the night at the Chennai railway station, and reached home the next morning. After reaching home, I was crystal clear about one thing that there is no place to go. The best bet is to stay at home and fight, than making things worse. I think my wife also realized the same truth. Since then we haven’t left our house for any reason. Not that we exist in perfect harmony, but then there is no other choice.
I had started making money, but then it was nowhere close to the expenses I had. The biggest problem was the bank EMI! I thought I should meet up the bank manager, and take some time to repay. I met the Manager and also offered to pay more interest. But the Bank Manager was clear in her stance – she never gave me any consideration. I thought, well let me try to pay till I can, beyond that – it is upto God…
The next month, I had only 2 days more to deposit my EMI, and I was as usual bankrupt. My teacher had once told me that if you are blessed then help will come to you at the right time from the right people – hence I kept my cool. The same day I got a phone call from one of my celebrity clients who wanted to meet me that day. In fact 7 months back they had come to consult me on a particular case, where a TV channel wasn’t paying them their dues. They had already moved courts. I had told them that by June, they should be getting all their money back. And by God’s grace they did. They wanted to meet me and thank me. They came home, and generously paid me 10 k – without even asking and without even knowing about the situation I was in. More than the money I was impressed at the magnanimity of this couple. I paid my EMI on time….

My difficult times – part 3!
My grandfather was an astrologer. My father, an MTNL employee, knew astrology and had done many good predictions for relatives and friends. But then I never learnt anything from my father. In fact my mother – a staunch Christian – never wanted my father to teach me astrology. Whatever I know about astrology, and whatever I am today as an astrologer– is just because of my teacher K. Gopalakrishnan (http://www.sathyaprema.om), and none else. I am always grateful to him for 2 important reasons. One – because he was kind enough to accept me as his student, and secondly because he taught me astrology without holding back anything.
After I quit my job, my father said, “what will astrology pay you man?”. My mother didn’t know what work I was doing, but then she was in love with Tidel Park already- she was sure I took a wrong decision. If I had listened to my wife, I would have never learnt astrology on the first place. My teacher knew I would become an astrologer, but then never wanted me to quit so soon - may be he was too much in love with me. And my friends and well-wishers never wanted me to take such a big risk. But then I had to take decision based only upon what God had to say. My sister was the only person whose words were in synch with what I already thought. She said, “Kennedi, if you think you want to quit, just quit.”
My PF (provident fund) got cleared in 90 days. I still wonder why after snatching 33 per cent of your earning every month, the government takes 90 days to clear your PF. On what basis does the government assume that people have savings to run the next 90 days if they are jobless! Well I cannot complain much, because it at least came in 90 days.
I returned the money I borrowed from people around, I paid the EMIs on time, never compromised on my lifestyle, and I was at square one within 3 months. Bankrupt once again. At this point I realized some truths about life. We as mediocre middle class individuals are conditioned in a particular way. We are trained to work hard, earn money, and then save. And there is another rule that exists, which says – work less, generate money and multiply. Most employees follow the former rule and most businessmen follow the latter rule. To realize the difference between the two rules you need to quit your 9-5 job and experience it for yourself or else they will remain just as statements.
There is a subtle different between understanding the presence of God, and realizing the presence of God. The difference is simple – on one hand try thinking about eating Hyderabadi Chicken biryani, and the other hand you go to hotel and eat Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani. There is a major difference!

My difficult times – part 2!
Before I go onto the blog, I wanted to share a good news. The ‘Male Chauvinist Club’, which was formed on 2nd December 2008, has 27 members already. Well that is indeed motivating for a 4-day-old club. More than the number I am happy that men still haven’t lost the ability to think beyond women. If you want to become a member - just send me a mail with the subject that says – “I am proud to be a man!” If the number touches 100, we can have a sponsored booze party at any of the Star Hotels (we surely can ask terrorists to keep their hands off on that particular day). Come join ‘The Male Chauvinist Club – the only place under sun where women are banned completely.’
On to the blog…
Period - 2004 later months
Never in my life have I had financial crisis and now I was already facing one. Not that I was born with a silver spoon, but then my desires were always less, and all my desires were always met without hassles.
My episode of borrowing money started. The first person I borrowed money was my elder sister followed by few friends. I made a list of people from whom I should never borrow money, and that remained my only prayer. And thankfully till date, God never put me in a situation to borrow money from people from I never wanted to accept.
This particular set of blogs are predominantly to express my gratitude towards all those people who helped me in my difficult times, which I wanted to convey very badly before it is too late. In fact I never got an opportunity to thank my father for all that he did for me.
My teacher had very clearly told me that ‘gestation’ period for an astrologer is really high. So you need to keep that in mind, before you take up astrology full time. I understood his statement better only when I experienced it myself.
For instance - I started predicting for people from the year 2002. If I predict marriage for a client in 2007, he will never come back to me or trust me till he gets married in 2007. So I need to wait for 5 years for that particular client to come back. And when he comes back he brings his friends too.
The gestation period was eating me so I thought I should be able to gain trust in the very first meeting. Hence I got into predicting the past events, before I got into the future. I still practice this, and don’t predict the future until and unless I am able to read the past. This exercise isn’t to prove my astrological skills, but was just to gain trust.
Money and Me
Many of my predictions started coming right for people, and they started coming to me frequently. And they would refer me to their friends too - I still wasn’t sure about the money part. I remember in 2004, the first amount I received for a reading was Rs 11. That time I wasn’t in need of any money as I had a good job. But when I quit my job, I knew I have to change.
People who consulted me that time, knew it was my new profession. They will come, consult, chat for hours, and walk off without paying anything. Of course I gained a lot of good will and ‘thanks’ from the people. But I cannot tell my landlady that I made 100 thanks this month, so you take 50 of them. Or I cannot go to a grocery shop and say take 10 thanks and give me a packet of biscuits for my children.
Both my sister and wife were mad at me to do readings for free. But then I was still very uncomfortable asking money for the reading. I left it to God.
Later people, I think, understood that they should not consult me for free. They will ask how much, and I would say your call. I still wasn’t sure about the money part. When I gave people the freedom, they always paid me the bare minimum - Rs 100 or Rs 50 for a reading. I made a simple mathematical calculation. If one person pays me Rs 100, I have to do consultation for 30 people to pay my house rent, and do some 100 consultations per month to meet my minimum needs. Well this wasn’t working!

My difficult times – part 1
Human beings love to sympathize with others because it gives you an immense ego boost. We love to spend time with people whose life is equally screwed like ours or with someone whose situation is even worse than ours. And we usually don’t like people who are happy - may we feel it is an insult to our self-respect. This particular set of blogs is not to create any kind of sympathy from anyone – which includes friends, foes, and strangers - but it is an attempt to tell the ‘truth’ as it is.
I remember a story when an old man was busy repairing the bridge after he crossed over. An onlooker asked him, why was he wasting his time on something he has already used. And the old man said – “I want to repair this bridge to make life easy for the generation to come.” I would love to be like that old man, where in my blogs can help those sincere seekers who go through similar experiences in life before achieving something.
A lot of people tell me that they admire my guts to have quit my 9-5 job from a top IT firm after 8 years of experience. And this happened one fine morning. I don’t think it was anything to do with my ‘guts.’ It was just an extension of the ‘trust’ that I had on God or almighty.
I remember the day when my boss took me into a cabin, and asked me to rethink about my decision of quitting without another job on hand. He said think about your wife and children. I listened to him patiently as I was hiding my right hand under the table. There wasn’t anything in my right hand. I had just closed my fist, and kept my middle finger up!
I resigned on August 24th 2004, and my second daughter was born on August 30th. I was serving my notice period then. I didn’t share the news to anyone at office – as I never wanted those backstabbing corporate hypocrites to come and congratulate me with their fake smiles.
All those astrologers whom I helped putting my role at stake rebelled against me – thinking the new person, who took over, was the messiah who has come only to save their asses. That was the time when I realized that any person – no matter whether he is a spiritual person or an astrologer or a Godman – behaves the same in a given situation. After all they are just mere human beings.
Then there was a meeting with the Vice President. He gave me a valuable advice. “Kennedi somewhere you need to learn to take people along with you.” I think he wanted to tell me that – be a good team member and don’t try to be a leader. I continued to hide my right hand under the table.
I never believed in savings, and still don’t believe in it. My bank balance was Rs 35, personal loan was 1.30 lakhs, no insurance, no assets, no houses, and on top of that – no salary that month. On enquiry I came to know that the last salary will come after 2 months, and the PF amount of 1.3 lakhs will come after 90 working days. The difficult time had already started…….
On the other side of life – I was left with one wife, 2 beautiful daughters, and the ‘trust’ I had God – that he won’t let me down….

The Male Chauvinist Club!
Let me be honest. Apart from the sex factor, I have always found men better companions than women. You need not cajole them, you need not hold hands, you need not buy them sodas and you need not put up with their strange headaches. Just crack few jokes and the relationship is back into action. And I strongly feel – men all over the world think the same! Keeping that in mind I had an idea, which if manifested correctly - can make men live a better and wholesome life.
I thought about starting a club – where only men will be allowed. This club will be on the virtual plane first and with time transform into reality. The two important prerequisites needed to join this club would be – first – you have to be a man with balls – age ranging from 18 to 80, and second – you should keep all the happenings of the club a secret. Meaning you should not reveal them to any woman under the sun - which includes your spouse.
What will the Male Chauvinist club do?
This club surely won’t be donating wheelchairs to handicapped people with its name embossed on it. Instead will arrange cycle expeditions, bike expeditions, and trekking programs for men alone. I am stressing on the MEN alone factor because – you need not carry other’s luggage on your head, which could spoil your trip, and you need not listen to all those funny ouches, ammas and baapres.
Meetings, booze, lunches, dinners will be part of MCC’s activities, and if situation permits – strip tease too (of course women).
Male Chauvinist Club isn’t a political party
There won’t be any hierarchy happening. No presidents, no vice presidents, and no chairmen. You either are a MCC member or a non-member - that’s all. And every decision related to the club and its activities will be taken by pure consensus.
Future of Male Chauvinist Club
When the number of members increases and also when the credibility factor increases - the MCC members will be pooling in money for various activities every 3 months or so. For instance – if a group of 5 wants to visit a particular country, all the members will pool in money, and send them across. And other members can wait their chance.
The activity can comprise of site seeing, or even a sandwich massage in Bangkok! The very aim of the club will be to make men live their life to the fullest!
Immediate actions
Volunteers and ideas are always welcome. The growth of this particular club depends on y(our) interest level and feedback. If the response is good, or if you think this will work out. Just send me a mail at kennedig@yahoo.com
For God sake don’t consult your girl friend or spouse on whether to join this club or not!
The subject of the mail can be – “I am proud to be a MCC member!”
