Mail addressed to Mr R Ramaraj MD, Sify.com

(If wrong things are criticized, good things have to be appreciated. I had sent a complaint mail to R Ramaraj, MD, Sify, after 3 days of struggle with service engineers directly. To my surprise I got a call from the Sify office within 12 hours, and the person over the phone promised to set my internet right before 1 pm. And as promised he sent across his service engineer and got my connection rectified. It was indeed fast!)

Dear Mr R Ramaraj,

I live in Velacherry, and have a Sify Broadband connection at home. And I am typing this mail sitting at my Sister’s place in Adyar at 8 pm to upload my stuff on the Internet, who uses BSNL broadband. The simple reason being your connection ain’t working for me for the last 3 days. And this repeats exactly after a fortnight.

Every time my connection goes off (which is very regular, I am offline forcibly at least for 7 days in a month) – I have to wait for at least 3 days before it gets rectified. The last time a person came home to rectify it gave me his number to get in touch with him directly instead of going through the confusing process of raising a case for bad connection. I have been calling him since day before yesterday evening to listen to the same reply that it will be rectified soon, and it is not rectified yet. Also today I called him 4 times before 3 pm, and some 10 times after 3 pm. He has stopped picking up the phone after 3 pm, and also didn’t have the basic courtesy to call me back. (His name Chandra Sekar – mobile number – 98840 10319)

I am an online astrologer (celebrity astrologer on rediff.com, MSN India, Yahoo India, Astroyogi.com & Indiainfo) who makes a living through the Internet, and this kind of regular interruptions really makes me look like a fool in front of my clients who book time and wait for me on Yahoo Messenger.. To be honest I mail them back saying– by God’s grace if my Sify Internet Connection doesn’t conk off I will be online at the decided time, and it has become a regular sentence in all my mails to my clients now.

Well after 6 months of mental torture I have decided to switch to BSNL Broadband from this month, and would be more than happy to stop using Sify Broadband. I know that my Rs 550 wouldn’t make any difference to the millions of dollars Sify makes, but then I at least would convince 2 people not to use Sify Broadband in their lives.

I would be the last person to sue Sify for the bad service they provide, but then I can predict one thing for sure that, with this kind of sick service Sify will have to let go the business to the competitors very soon.

God Bless Sify Broadband.
