Sentiments, Omens & Superstitions ? part 1
Sachin Tendulkar never removes his helmet till he hits a century. What if it rains and he is asked to go to the pavilion? He still doesn?t remove his helmet unless the match is called off completely. Mohinder Amarnath always had a red kerchief poking out of his pants whenever he came down to bat. Saurav Ganguly wears two different T-Shirts that carry different numbers ? one while batting & another while fielding.
Most of us tend to believe in some kind of sentiments, omens & superstition, and usually refuse to accept it when we are in a crowd ? for the fear that others would start doubting our self confidence level. It is perfectly ok. You need not come out & publish in the newspapers about your belief systems but then at least you need not make fun or laugh at the same system, which you believe in ? just to prove to the people around that you belong to the new generation of rational thinking. You can have some kind of courtesy towards the Indian saints who discovered them for the benefit of mankind & also for the people who died of starvation to save those wonderful sciences.
Majority of my clients are from the IT industry and they have only one major request when they consult me. That I should not tell anybody that they consulted me. Of course I keep that as a complete secret ? that is part of my professional ethics. And that is one of the reasons that you can find very few testimonials on my site, rest of my clients really mind their names getting published!
Omens are both good & bad, and honestly they don?t have any scientific explanations. Take a rose to a scientist and ask him to explain the same ? he would say its scientific name, to which family it belongs, then he will talk about the stem and its purposes, then he will talk about calyx, then corolla, then andraecium & gynaecium. And now take the same rose to your beloved ? she probably will kiss you for giving her one.
Different subjects have to be analyzed using different tools, and science isn?t the right device to explain the esoteric & occult sciences. If you apply logic to subjects like religion & divinity, then any religion would crumble down in seconds. Jesus was the only begotten son born to a virgin lady ? what was Joseph doing all those years? Lord Shiva has the ganges flowing from his head ? what is the logic? Mohammed was seen walking to the heaven from Mecca ? can anyone walk in the clouds?
To be continued?.
Debates are welcome, but I charge Rs 300 per 15 minutes!
